Nicholas Sunderland, Interior designer in London, was commissioned by the CEO of a world leading insurance company to design and architecturally improve the interior of an historic new development. Restructuring the interior to create more open plan living and integrating new LED lighting throughout. The client bought a duplex apartment off plan and required a remodel and fit out to create a London weekday home suitable for business entertaining and relaxation. Originally a 3 bedroom apartment it was not necessary to retain these, as living space was more important. The lower ground floor led to an outside terrace and was the master suite and storage.
No furniture other than a bed and dining table existed, and a desire for a particular sofa. This had to be built into the design. The main point was no grey, and lots of colour. I was given a free reign to design and fit, with little restriction other than budget.
We removed walls, re designed rooms and added a range of built in bespoke furniture. Floating bookcases and media units were designed and fitted, uniquely, with the ability to change the colours within the Mondrian inspired wall units. A wave kitchen island in recycled glass and Hi Macs stone was an impressive addition to the open plan kitchen mirroring the unique shape of the sofa. LED lights in pelmets, stair treads and around and under kitchen units added an almost futuristic glow to the apartment, fun and functional.
Clever design techniques and luxury furniture and lighting created this warm home suitable for VIP entertaining as well as relaxing.
