Delightful 1 bedroom apartment in the fashionable Primrose Hill North London.
Temporary photographs…
A previous Client asked me to design a recent apartment she bought in a Georgian house in Primrose Hill adjacent to Regent Park. The original vendor had lived in chaotic splendour and bright colours, which attracted her to the apartment. Furnishing and decorating were in the brief but required no structural changes. The only item left by the vendor were the stunning Roman blinds to front reception, these we kept and worked with.
The Brief
From past experience I knew she would want bright colours, bling and quirky fittings. Pink, greys, crystal and importantly no clutter. As this is a second home, it required full furnishing, to be used weekdays to cut down travel to work. She loved reaction, so Bling wins.
Storage
Storage being an issue we designed and fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom and both alcoves in the open plan reception room. We used a combination of hand painted and Xylocleaf for the units to create a fully bespoke system.
Reception area
With only one bedroom a sofa bed was important and the best was sourced. An ottoman for storage and a dual purpose coffee table was also made. Whilst the existing kitchen and bathroom were to stay we upgraded lighting, finishes and accessories to create a new fresh look. The glass dining table with dining chairs covered in silk Sari material from the clients collection popped colour into the space. Crystal lights from Illuminati, a favourite of my client linked both rooms and created an elegant lighting scheme.
Decoration and Décor
Wallpaper from Arté was used on the reception window wall to give texture and soft contrast with a reflective metal woven through. It reflected the crystal lights and table lamps on the console behind the sofa. The main areas were in a neutral Farrow and Ball shade with white woodwork. The alcove units were in a matching finish.
With a rich pink sofa and soft grey walls, a large modern rug reflecting these colours softened the wooden floors. complimentary cushions from Biba were the clients favourite The console in metal and marble with matching side tables completed the look.
Bedroom
The bedroom featured wallpaper from Arté imagining a fringe effect to give a 3D but French Boudoir atmosphere. In the same way handmade roman blinds complimented the wallpaper with fabric from Sanderson. Also bespoke wooden venetian blind gave it a shutter feel and added to both privacy and layered elegance.
A king storage bed with a mirror plinth was specially made with integrated headboard. Contemporary side tables and art deco lamps completed the room. A pink and grey splatter rug was set under the bed; the mirror plinth appeared to float the bed over the rug.
